We Still Had Choices

We did not reject conventional medicine. Jamie continued with his prescribed medical treatment while we also focused on the areas of daily life we could influence. We changed how we ate, moved, slept, managed stress and cared for our environment. We kept learning, asking questions and making considered choices alongside professional care. Each step helped us feel less powerless and more actively involved in Jamie’s wellbeing.

Fifteen Months Later

Fifteen months after Jamie’s diagnosis, whole-body CT and bone scans showed no evidence of disease. We cannot say that any single treatment or lifestyle change produced this outcome, and we do not present our experience as a formula for others. Jamie’s medical treatment remained central, while the changes we made helped us feel stronger, more informed and more actively involved in his wellbeing.

Why We Share Our Story

We created Lessons from Stage Four because we know how overwhelming it can feel to face a serious diagnosis and not know where to begin. The program brings together Jamie’s experience, Amanda’s own breast cancer journey and her professional background as a nutritionist and counsellor.

Our purpose is not to tell anyone what they should do. It is to help people ask better questions, understand their choices and take manageable next steps alongside their healthcare team.

Our story, not medical advice. This website shares our personal experience and general educational information. It is not a substitute for individual medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.
